The Beach House Pods Reviews by Kirsty and Lucy

Because it can be so hard to choose, we have compiled a list of places to eat with our own star rating. We made a Monday our ‘Date Day’ and made it our mission to try as many varied meals as possible across the restaurants and cafes in Dunoon to give you an idea of quality and selections.

We have started with the closest to Beah House Pods

the royal bar

The Royal Bar,– Innellan

Just along the road and suitable for all the family serving a small variety of traditional pub grub daily from 12pm.  They serve Fyne Ales, are dog friendly, have a pool table and darts board for public use.

Looking on the FB page will let you know of live upcoming music events. Liz and Martin will make you feel most welcome at ‘the local’. Booking in advance is recommended for a dine in meal.

The Osborne-Innellan

Overlooking the River Clyde within the glass conservatory, not only will you have amazing views, but the food and service are extra special here.  Pete and Elliott will welcome you into the bar/restaurant where you can choose from the daily special menu or the set menu with plenty of choice in pub grub. The food here is exceptional. They have all the sports on in the bar and the dining room is separate. On the FB page you can check for any Specialty nights such as Quiz & Curry,  Cheese & Wine or Hog Roast days.

This is a very busy place and advance bookings are a must.

51St State Bar & Grill/ La Cantina-Dunoon

An American diner upstairs and an Italian Fine Dining restaurant downstairs, both offering a large menu and everything tasty with lots of food on the plate. Huge milkshakes the kids will love. The service is friendly and it’s in the middle of the town. At weekends. On occasion, there is live music from a band called Toast. You can be lucky and get a walk in in the daytime but booking is recommended.

The Blairmore– Blairmore

A few miles outside Dunoon is a spectacular café run by mum and daughter team Morghan and Helen.  With an extensive menu to suit all, specials board and lots of delicious teas/coffee/cakes (all home baking made by Shona) you will be spoilt for choice. Here you will overlook the Clyde and can wander down The Blairmore Pier where The Waverley docks over the summer schedule. They have recently opened a takeaway next door if you don’t want to sit in. It is walk in only and worth the short wait.

They also host specialty evening where you can prebook your table, looking on the FB page lists the dates and there is a very reliable bus service from outside Beach House Pods all the way along the scenic drive, right to the door.

Lucy and I LOVE this place, the French Toast is amazing.
